About Strikethrough Text
Strikethrough text uses Unicode combining characters to overlay a horizontal line through each character. Unlike HTML strikethrough tags, this effect is achieved by appending a special "combining long stroke overlay" character (U+0336) to each letter, creating text that appears crossed out in any context. This makes it work in plain text environments where formatting isn't supported.
Combining characters are special Unicode symbols that modify the appearance of the character they follow. The strikethrough effect is particularly popular for showing corrections, indicating deleted content, creating humorous contradictions in social media posts, or adding visual interest to text. Since it's based on Unicode rather than formatting, strikethrough text can be copied and pasted anywhere, maintaining its appearance across different platforms and applications.
